1978 Ford F150 Automatic Transmission

A 1978 Ford F-150 is an excellent example of an automatic transmission. This model was built between 1964 and 1979 and used a side-mounted overdrive as its 4th gear. The T170F transmission was designed for cars with lighter duty bearings. There were two-wheel drive and four-wheel-drive versions available. The T170F transmission is a great option for many pickup trucks. The automaker also made an automatic version of the 1978 Ford F-150.

The T170FS was first introduced in Australia in 1980. It was used on the Ford F-100 and F-150, and was available in 2WD and 4WD versions. This model also came with a four-speed manual. The automatic version was later added to the F-150. It replaced the manual version in the Ford pickup truck and the Ford f-150. Both types of transmissions are still available for this model.

In 1978, the Ford F-150 was the first truck with an automatic transmission. It was the first model to receive the transmission in Australia. The automatic version was installed on the F-100 with the 240 Cleveland engine. The F-150's four-speed manual, however, was not available until 1983. The automatic transmission is still the most common transmission in these trucks. The only difference between the two transmissions is the oil level, which is higher in a T170FS model.

When it comes to automatic transmissions, a T170FS model is the most common. The T170FS unit is used in many Ford engines from 1995 onwards. This model features PTO covers on each side. The Ford part number and the unit serial number are found on the left side of the transmission case. The S542 and S547 look identical but in reality, they differ greatly in ratios. Therefore, if you're unsure of the type of transmission you need, it's best to call your local mechanic or junkyard.

Unlike the S542, the S547 is a heavy duty five-speed transmission with an aluminum case and extension housing. The bell housing is integral to the case. The shifter is mounted on a small shift cover on the top of the unit. The S547 is used in the Ford F250 from 1987 to 1994. It's also the most common type of transmission in the United States. The S542 is the more common one, although it's also the most expensive.

The T170FS was the first automatic transmission in the F-150 from 1980 to 1983. The T170FS had been redesigned by Ford in the mid-1970s to be more efficient. The T170FS was the first automatic model to be offered in Australia. It's also the first pickup truck to be fitted with a Ford-styled transfer case. The manual transfer case is a popular type.
