Transmission Installation Procedures

All the following procedures must be met to receive a valid engine warranty. 

  • Replace engine oil, fuel filter, antifreeze, and oil filter.
  • Replace engine oil cooler or external cooler if equipped.
  • Flush cooling system.
  • Replace the water pump.
  • Replace hoses and belts.
  • Replace timing belt.
  • Install and replace spark plugs and wires.
  • Inspect and replace gaskets and seals (Oil pan gasket, front and rear main seals, valve cover gaskets).
  • Clear all computer codes from the vehicle prior to installing.
  • Make sure the engine is the same application as the one being replaced.
  • Exchange accessory items (exhaust manifolds, mounts, distributor, sensor).
  • Disabled fuel and ignition before starting the engine. This will allow the oil to prime.
  • Remove all plugs/tape on the engine before installing.

Common Engine Installation Failures

  • Failure to clear all computer codes
  • Failure to add engine oil prior to starting
  • Disable fuel and ignition before starting the engine. This will allow the oil to prime.
  • Failure to replace oil cooler or oil cooler in the radiator.
  • Failure to flush radiator and insure cooling fans work.
  • Failure to exchange the flywheel and bolts.
  • Failure to prime the engine before attempting to start.
